Opis:
Cuttlefish bones washed up on the strand lines at Hengistbury Head. A "cuttlefish bone" found on a beach is actually the internal, chambered shell of a cuttlefish that has washed ashore after the animal has died. These lightweight, calcium-rich structures, also called cuttlebones, are often found after storms or strong winds and are a natural occurrence. People collect them to be used as a dietary supplement for birds, reptiles, and snails, or for other uses like creating moulds for jewellery and casting metals., Credit:Geoffrey Swaine / Avalon
