Mince pies are a popular Christmas sweet treat. Mince pies are one of the staples of the UK Christmas. According to Good Housekeeping, we eat around 800 million of them each year. Mince pies originated in medieval Europe with meat, fruit, and spices, possibly brought to England by Crusaders. These early pies were savoury, rectangular, and symbolically represented the manger with 13 ingredients symbolising Jesus and his disciples.
