The Curzon Mayfair hosted the red carpet premiere of Steve, the new drama directed by Tim Mielants and written by Max Porter, based on Porter's 2023 novella Shy. Attending the event were director Tim Mielants, writer and executive producer Max Porter, lead actors Cillian Murphy, Tracey Ullman, Jay Lycurgo, Simbi Ajikawo (Little Simz), and Emily Watson, along with producer Alan Moloney. The film features music by Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow. Steve will premiere in the Platform Prize section at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, open in select UK and US cinemas on 19 September, and stream on Netflix from 3 October.On the carpet Kara Wilson and Tom Conti.Set in the mid-90s, Steve is a reimagining of Max Porter's Sunday Times bestseller Shy. The film follows a pivotal day in the life of headteacher Steve (Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy) and his students at a last-chance reform school amidst a world that has forsaken them. As Steve fights to protect the school's integrity and impending closure, we witness him grappling with his own mental health.
