London, UK. Wednesday 25 June 2025.The Wellcome Collection unveils Thirst: In Search of Freshwater, a major free exhibition exploring humanity's deep and vital connection to freshwater. Spanning cultures and centuries—from ancient Mesopotamia to modern-day Nepal and Singapore—the exhibition weaves together art, science, history, and Indigenous knowledge to examine how freshwater shapes health, ecosystems, and society.Featuring over 125 objects, Thirst guides visitors through five thematic zones—Aridity, Rain, Glaciers, Surface Water, and Groundwater—highlighting the urgent global challenges of water scarcity and mismanagement, while also celebrating resilience, healing, and innovation.Contemporary works by artists including Gideon Mendel, Chloe Dewe Mathews, Anthony Acciavatti, and Susan Schuppli are on display, alongside new commissions by Raqs Media Collective, Karan Shrestha, and Feifei Zhou and Zahirah Suhaimi (SEACoast)., Credit:Abdullah Bailey / Avalon
