Italian luxury umbrella manufacturer Il Marchesato has joined forces with UK artist and bespoke luxury event organiser Debbie Wingham. It has been described as the world's most expensive parasol. It is waterproof so also works as an umbrella. British-bornWingham is the designer behind some of the world's most extravagant creations, from diamond-encrusted gowns and shoes to oner-off objects d'art. The parasol features 24-carat gold hardware as well as a a dual-layer fabric waterproof fabric covering offering full UV protection. The canopy is lined with a baroque pattern, adorned with elaborate floral brooches embroidered with real diamonds and pearls. Wingham joined with Il Marchesato for a commissioning client who was said to be particularly passionate about sun protection, valuing skincare and UV defence as much as shelter from the rain. The client approached Wingham with a collection of heirloom diamonds gifted by grandparents to create "something extraordinary.”
