Pictures must credit: Hyundai Korean car maker Hyundai has developed a fleet of robotic parking valets to work at its offices and plants. It means vehicles can be moved around without needing drivers. The system has been rolled out in Hyundai's office building in Seoul, its innovation centre in Singapore and Metaplant America factory in Georgia, USA. The WIA Parking Robot can do the job with any vehicle, autonomous or not, with a maximum weight capacity of 2.2 tons. The robots are flat platforms just 110mm high. Users arrive at a carpark and hail the robots using an app. They come and collect the car before taking it to a free space. The car parking spaces are labelled with QR codes which the robots can read for collecting the vehicle. The robots work in pairs, autonomously rolling beneath the target vehicle and deploying pairs of arms beneath the tyres to lift the car. Picture supplied by JLPPA
