They aim to overcome the limitations of traditional glass structures, such as limited design options, lack of personalisation, and restricted versatility across various scenarios. Issues like overheating in summer and inadequate insulation in winter, leading to increased energy consumption and household costs, are also solved according to Chinese maker SolarYard. The rooms, under the brand name Ombra, are designed to to realise the ideal outdoor lifestyle at the doorstep. The pergolas are said to be the first in the world to feature hidden smart air conditioning systems, with a 120°adjustable airflow angle, for rapid temperature regulation. To combat dryness, a smart micro-mist system automatically adjusts indoor humidity throughout the seasons. Customers can personalise the solar pergola's design and size. Each has up to 20 square meters of photovoltaic panels that power indoor appliances directly with battery storage. If the weather is conducive, the glass walls of the room slide away, and the sun-seeking solar panels double as louvers to provide shade and power to built-in air-conditioning to keep those inside comfortable.
