Despite the country's self-sufficiency in salt production, workers face harsh conditions, low wages, and an uncertain future in this crucial industry. As of February 2025, Bangladesh's salt industry has experienced notable growth, particularly in the Cox's Bazar region, which remains the primary hub for salt production. Favorable weather conditions, including prolonged heatwaves, have significantly boosted output.
