Picture MUST credit: Bonhams A 700-year-old lamp has sold for just over £5 million GBP to become the highest priced glass object ever sold at an auction. The 14th Century Islamic Sarghitmish lamp had been used as a vase for dried flowers. The lamp was consigned by a descendant of Egypt's first Prime Minister, Nubar Pasha, having been in the family for more than a century. It was described as "one of the rarest and most important examples” of Islamic glass ever offered at auction. It sold for f£5,130,400 GBP / € 6,187,495 at London sale room Bonhams.
