Pictures must credit: Sotheby's An ultra rare Patek Philippe watch belonging to Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone has sold for $5.4 million USD / €4.98 million euros at auction after a frantic bidding war. The price makes it the most expensive modern timepiece ever sold at auction house Sotheby's. The Grandmaster Chime sparked a fierce battle between five bidders at the auction house's Important Watches sale in New York. It finally sold to a private Asian collector. That is the highest price achieved for any modern watch sold at Sotheby's and makes Sly's Patek the third most expensive timepiece sold in the auction house's history. The auction included 11 of the legendary actor's prized timepieces from watchmakers such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Piaget.
