Pictures must credit: Doroni Aerospace A traffic-beating electric flying car that fits in the garage could be flying commuter owners to work by next year. The two-seat H1X by US company Doroni Aerospace has built a full working prototype which is able to fly inside its facility. Outside flight testing is scheduled for later this year. The Miami-based firm says first units of the vertical take-off and landing aircraft could reach clients by 2025. The H1X replaces an earlier model being developed called H1 and features four ducted fans that deliver lift and forward propulsion pus two more for forward propulsion in the tail. The aircraft is aiming for official certification as an ultralight aircraft to enable kit to fly in urban areas. The semi-autonomous Doroni aims to have the H1X replace cars or trains for commuters. It is controlled by a joystick and will require a license though not a conventional pilot's license. H1X is designed with anti-collision sensors, barometer and cameras for situational position and safety. It can stay flaying even if one fan fails, and there will be a ballistic parachute for a total failure. The designers are aiming for a top speed of 120 mph / 193 km/h with a 60-mile / 96 km range and 40-minute flight capability. Picture supplied by JLPPA
